Cleanup Status

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) required a former Occidental Chemical Corporation to conduct a groundwater investigation at the site due to concerns regarding spills and releases. This investigation confirmed that groundwater contamination existed at the facility; however, it did not fully delineate the contamination at the site. Occidental completed a full site investigation delineating the nature and extent of contamination at the site. NJDEP required some supplemental work be done to complete this investigation and Occidental recently submitted the results of that work. NJDEP has been reviewing this additional information along with the proposals to clean up the contamination.

Once the investigation work and cleanup proposals are approved, Occidental Chemical Corporation will need to begin implementing the cleanup work under the supervision of NJDEP.
