Webinar Description

This one-and-a-half-hour webinar hosted by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the International Solid Waste Association informs attendees on the broader aspects of plastic waste management using EPA’s expanded Solid Waste Management Toolkit. Content from the “Addressing Plastic Waste” companion chapter is highlighted to present attendees with best practices and relevant case studies, and to demonstrate how the resource can be used to inform and support plastic waste management initiatives in medium and large urban centers. The webinar concludes with a facilitated discussion session with participants to exchange ideas and share information on plastic waste initiatives in their region or community.

Webinar Description

This one-hour webinar introduces the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s publication, Best Practices for Solid Waste Management: A Guide for Decision-Makers in Developing Countries. EPA provides an overview of the Guide, including where to find the Guide, how to use the Guide, and an overview of content and best practices. The webinar then features two speakers sharing real-world examples of solid waste management best practices in action. Kaushik Chandrasekhar of The Energy Resources Institute profiles an innovative retail consumer recycling credit model in Panjim, India. Gabriela Otero of the Brazilian Solid Waste Association speaks about marine litter generation and characterization in Santos, Brazil. EPA and the webinar guest speakers will answer participant questions.
