Why We Did This Report
The Strategic Plan provides the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Office of Inspector General’s five-year roadmap for fulfilling our statutory duty to conduct independent, objective, and evidence-based oversight of the programs and operations of the EPA and the U.S. Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board.
Summary of Findings
In this document, we outline our mission, vision, values, and lines of effort. We also identify our strategic goals for 2024 to 2028 and describe the objectives that will help us accomplish those goals.

OIG Independence of EPA
The EPA's Office of Inspector General is a part of the EPA, although Congress provides our funding separate from the agency, to ensure our independence. We were created pursuant to the Inspector General Act of 1978, as amended.
