Daniel A. Vallero, Ph.D.

EPA environmental engineer

Dr. Daniel Vallero is an environmental engineer who conducts research in chemical fate and transport of pollutants, especially those that are persistent and accumulate in the food chain. Most recently, he has conducted and led research related to exposure of consumers and other users to chemicals in products, articles and building materials during various life cycle stages.

He received his Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Duke University, an M.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Kansas, an M.S. in City and Regional Planning and bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University. He began working for EPA in 1976. He was a staff member of the Energy and Power Subcommittee of the U.S. House of Representatives, where he served as the technical advisor on global climate change issues.

Dr. Vallero is an adjunct member of the engineering faculty at Duke University and the biology faculty at North Carolina Central University. Previously, he held adjunct faculty positions at the University of Missouri and Longview College (Missouri). He is the author of numerous journal and encyclopedia articles. In addition, he has written fourteen textbooks related to environmental chemistry, risk assessment and engineering.
