SafeWater Multi-Contaminant Benefit-Cost (MCBC) Model and Associated Files

The SafeWater MCBC model estimates the costs and benefits of enforceable standards set under the Per-and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) National Primary Drinking Water Regulation (NPDWR) finalized in April 2024. For information on how this model was utilized, please see the Economic Analysis for the Final Per-and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances National Primary Drinking Water Regulation at regulations.gov (Document Number EPA-815-R-24-001).

The following files and data sources were used in the economic analysis and may be downloaded by selecting the link below each description.

SafeWater MCBC User Guide

The EPA provides a user guide to the SafeWater MCBC model and an overview of the source code for SafeWater MCBC at the link below. Please also refer to Chapter 5 of the PFAS NPDWR economic analysis for additional information about the use of SafeWater MCBC in the regulatory analysis.

SafeWater MCBC Executables and Associated Data Files

SafeWater MCBC was used in support of the PFAS NPDWR economic analysis. SafeWater MCBC is an executable program that runs on a Windows PC. The program as well as the data used to run the program are provided in the zip file at the following link. To use the executable program and data files, please refer to the SafeWater MCBC User Guide.
