Web Standard: Wide Template

Definitions

The wide template is an option available on Basic Pages in the WebCMS. Choosing this option stretches the page content to the full width of the browser window. The breadcrumbs inserted by the system will remain, and they will be the only navigation your users will see on the page.

Content Requirements

  • The wide template shall only be used to accommodate specific types of content, but is not required:
    • Content embedded in iFrames (for example, StoryMaps, data visualization products, or other applications)
    • Maps
    • Tables with multiple columns that cannot be easily viewed with the sidebar menu present
    • Oversized infographics or images with horizontal layouts
  • The wide template is not permitted for purely aesthetic or layout preferences. 

About this Standard

All EPA public web content must adhere to all federal requirements including; the EPA Web Standards, the U.S. Web Design System guidelines, federal plain language guidelines, and the 21st Century Integrated Digital Experience Act. Internal content, including Intranet and Microsoft 365, may differ from the public content. If not explicitly stated, content must adhere to all federal requirements.
