Summary

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) invites the public to comment on its preliminary Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the Town of Marmet’s Maryland Avenue Sewer Overflow Abatement project to mitigate combined sewer overflows and reduce pollutants entering the Kanawha River.

    EPA’s Preliminary Finding of No Significant Impact for this project.

    EPA has concluded that the environmental impacts are expected to be minimal. The EPA review indicated that no adverse environmental impacts are anticipated from the project. As such, an Environmental Impact Statement will not be prepared.

    The EPA reviewed environmental information and the Town of Marmet’s environmental review report that assessed nine (9) courses of action to evaluate the effects of project implementation on environmental resources. EPA’s assessment focused on their Proposed Action Alternative and a No-Action Alternative. The EPA’s Environmental Assessment did not identify significant effects to resources as a result of implementing the Proposed Action Alternative.

    Potesta prepared a reconfiguration of an overflow street pump station based on their preliminary engineering report for the project and submitted the report to both the State of West Virginia and the Environmental Protection Agency.
