Map of Advance Areas

The Advance Program ran from 2012 to 2025 and consisted of more than 600 programs to support efforts to attain and maintain the NAAQS. This website serves as a historical record of those plans. EPA is no longer updating program content as of June 12, 2025.

The participants below have agreed to take proactive steps toward improving air quality. EPA is assisting them as they identify, evaluate, select, implement, and update measures and programs tailored to their needs. If your area is interested in participating in the Advance program, contact advance@epa.gov.
