New Lead Directive

EPA released an updated lead directive in October 2025. This directive updates the blood lead level of concern and the soil screening level for lead cleanup at Superfund sites. EPA is evaluating the directive’s impacts on this site. The site team will continue to collect and use site- specific information and community input to make decisions. EPA aims to accelerate cleanups, delivering health and environmental protections to communities faster. Learn more under Current Site Status. Learn more about actions to reduce potential lead exposure.

EPA approves planning for expedited cleanup of Benedict Park

In September 2025, EPA released the engineer evaluation/cost analysis approval memo for Benedict Park. This memo states that the EPA will proceed with an engineering evaluation/cost analysis to determine if a non-time critical removal action is warranted due to unacceptable risks to human health. The EPA anticipates the engineering evaluation/cost analysis will be available for public comment in Spring 2026.  Read more in the document below.
