Risk Reduction Measures for Broadcast Applications of Carbaryl and Methomyl in NMFS PULAs
For Bulletins that require points, choose and implement mitigation options from the table that achieve an equal or greater number of points per the instructions in the Bulletins. For Bulletins that do not require points, choose and implement at least one mitigation option below.

1 Point values correspond to the effectiveness of each option at reducing pesticide transport via runoff. Efficacy information came from a variety of sources (e.g., Ali et al. (2015); EPA 2023). 2 Alley crop points apply for applications to the tree crops (or vine, etc.) but do not apply for applications to the alley crop itself. The efficacy of this option assumes that the alley crop is functioning as a filter strip for pesticides applied to the trees. 3 Retention ponds include those that may be employed for culturing cranberries or rice. 4 Small area applications are those made to distinct targeted areas, typically using handheld wand and backpack sprayer. Estimated reductions assumed a median field size of 0.278 km2 (Yan and Roy 2016). 5 National Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) explains each conservation practice standards based on code number https://www.nrcs.usda.gov/resources/guides-and-instructions/conservation-practice-standards a On website listed in footnote 5, select code 393.
