International Programs Related to the Global Methane Initiative

The GMI is exploring ways to become more efficient and effective in achieving its mission, including possible alignment with these relevant initiatives to leverage resources and attention for key issues:

  • Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC)
Conducts significant sector-specific methane activities in three sectors that overlap with the GMI (agriculture, specifically manure management; municipal solid waste; and oil & gas) as well as several crosscutting initiatives (e.g., financing, short-lived climate pollutant [SLCP] national action planning)
  • United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), Committee on Sustainable Energy
Hosts the Group of Experts on Coal Mine Methane
  • World Bank’s Global Flaring and Methane Reduction Partnership (GFMR)
