Greater Milwaukee Estuary GLLA Sediment Remediation  This GLLA-funded project is currently in the feasibility study phase and may remediate up to 1.4 million cubic yards of contaminated sediment across the AOC.

Little Menomonee River Corridor Habitat Restoration This GLRI-funded project will restore a corridor of the Little Menomonee River for the benefit of fish and wildlife.  The large size of this project area provides important habitat for forest, grassland, and wetland breeding birds, and mammals. 2026 (est.)

Loss of Fish and Wildlife Habitat

Grand Trunk/Bay View Wetland Restoration This GLLA-funded project will restore a 7.5-acre wetland within the Port of Milwaukee.  2027 (est.)

Loss of Fish and Wildlife Habitat

Kletzsch Park Dam Fish Passage This Great Lakes Restoration Initiative-funded project will construct a fishway to re-establish connectivity. 2024 (est.)

Estabrook Dam Fish Passage This GLRI-funded project removed the Estabrook dam, reconnecting the river to  wetlands and upstream fish spawning habitat. 2018 Loss of Fish and Wildlife Habitat
Menomonee River and Milwaukee River Focused Feasibility Study This Great Lakes Legacy Act project evaluated remedial alternatives and supported selection of a cleanup plan that is protective of human health. 2018

Milwaukee River Fish Habitat Enhancement and Expansion This Fund for Lake Michigan project expanded and constructed a spawning reef for fish populations in the Milwaukee River. 2014

Wheelhouse Gateway Riparian Restoration This GLRI-funded project utilized bioengineering techniques for bank and slope stabilization, invasive species removal, and native plantings. 2014
