Overview

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is preparing an Integrated Science Assessment (ISA) as part of the review of the primary (health-based) National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) for oxides of nitrogen. As part of this review, EPA announced a series of public workshops to evaluate preliminary draft materials that will inform the development of the ISA for oxides of nitrogen. For more information regarding the ISA process, see the Integrated Science Assessment (ISA) for Oxides of Nitrogen - Health Criteria.

Expert evaluation of the preliminary draft materials helps to ensure that the ISA is up-to-date and focuses on the key evidence necessary to inform the underlying scientific basis for the review of the primary NAAQS.

The workshop was held via webinar. Further information was available via a Federal Register Notice (89 FR 73414).

Sessions

This workshop series contained information surrounding the Atmospheric, Exposure and Dosimetry, and Health chapters of the draft ISA. Preliminary materials were not released externally but were provided to the panelists to guide discussions that informed the development of the draft ISA.

The workshop was held in four webinar sessions on October 8th, 30th, and 31st, 2024.

  • October 8: Session 1. Atmospheric
  • October 8: Session 2. Exposure and Dosimetry
  • October 30: Session 3. Health Chapters Part 1
  • October 31: Session 4. Health Chapters Part 2

REGISTRATION: Members of the public were able attend as observers, but they had to register in advance through the FRN.

FOR FURTHER INFORMATION, CONTACT: Please direct questions regarding workshop registration or logistics to EPA's contractor, ICF, by e-mail at EPA-Workshops@icf.com. For technical issues, please use the contact us form with the subject line "NOx ISA Peer Review Workshops."
