EPA Administrator Zeldin Joins VP Vance in South Carolina, Visits Georgia for Roundtable with Governor Kemp, Local Electeds, and Farmers
WASHINGTON— Last week, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin traveled to Huger, South Carolina, alongside Vice President JD Vance, to tour Nucor Steel Berkley, attended a Charleston, South Carolina, roundtable hosted by the South Carolina Manufacturers Alliance, spoke at the Job Creators Network “Freedom Fighters” Summit in Savannah, Georgia, and met with Georgia farmers alongside Governor Brian Kemp (R-GA), and statewide leaders, in Guyton, Georgia.
“Under the Trump Administration, EPA is working to rollback burdensome regulations that are making life more difficult for American farmers, manufacturers, and other businesses across our country,” said Administrator Zeldin. “In South Carolina, I saw firsthand how the Trump Administration’s policies are helping American steel flourish. Manufacturers want to produce right here in America, and the Trump administration is helping them achieve that goal. In Georgia, I heard directly from farmers who, for too long, have seen EPA as their adversary, not their ally. The Trump EPA is working to directly support Georgia farmers, workers, and the state economy."
On Thursday, May 1, 2025, to mark the Trump Administration's first 100 days in office, Administrator Zeldin visited Nucor Steel Berkley, the largest U.S. Steel manufacturing facility in the United States. Zeldin joined Vice President JD Vance on a tour of the facility and delivered remarks focused on the American manufacturing renaissance.

Following the event with Vice President Vance, Administrator Zeldin attended a roundtable hosted by the South Carolina Manufacturers Alliance, in Charleston, South Carolina. The group discussed a variety of issues impacting the South Carolina manufacturing industry.
On Friday, May 2, 2025, Administrator Zeldin was in Savannah, Georgia, to attend a panel focused on U.S. regulations at the Job Creators Network “Freedom Fighters” Summit. Zeldin was joined on stage by the following co-panelists: former U.S. Secretary of Labor Alex Acosta, Representative Mike Collins (GA-10), and economist EJ Antoni. Administrator Zeldin spoke about the agency’s actions to rollback burdensome regulations from the previous Administration that deliberately suffocate sectors of the U.S. economy.

Administrator Zeldin concluded his day at Shiloh Farms in Guyton, Georgia, for a roundtable with Georgia farmers to discuss recent EPA actions that support American agriculture. He emphasized the Trump Administration’s deregulatory agenda, highlighting specific reforms such as the agency’s action to revise Waters of the United States (WOTUS) to alleviate burdens on the agriculture industry, promote innovation, and enhance operational efficiency. The meeting also underscored EPA’s dedication to supporting America’s agricultural industry, the backbone of our nation’s economy, while advancing environmental stewardship through the agency’s Insecticide Strategy.
The roundtable was attended by Georgia Governor Brian Kemp (R-GA), EPA Region 4 Administrator Kevin McOmber, Shiloh Farms owner Bruce Redmond, Georgia State Speaker of the House Jon Burns, Georgia State Senate Agriculture Committee Chairman Russ Goodman, and many other Georgia business owners.
