EPA Administrator Zeldin Wraps Up Swing Across New Mexico, Illinois, and Wisconsin, Touting President Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill
WASHINGTON, D.C. – This week, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin traveled to New Mexico, Illinois and Wisconsin to advance cooperative federalism with state leaders and highlight support for President Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill.
On Tuesday, June 24, 2025, Administrator Zeldin delivered a keynote address at the Western Governors’ Association annual meeting in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Administrator Zeldin discussed EPA’s commitment to unleashing energy dominance and making the United States the AI capital of the world. Following his remarks, Administrator Zeldin held a media availability to answer questions from the press. Throughout the day, he held various meetings that included U.S. Secretary of Labor Lori Chavez-DeRemer, North Dakota Governor Kelly Armstrong, and Colorado Governor Jared Polis.

On Wednesday, June 25, 2025, Administrator Zeldin toured Intel’s semiconductor factory in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. The factory is part of a growing sector as large investments are being made in AI development and chip manufacturing nationwide, especially in the American Southwest. They discussed ways EPA can continue to work with Intel and semiconductor manufacturers to produce and promote innovation in the United States while protecting the environment.

On Thursday, June 26, 2025, Administrator Zeldin met with dedicated EPA career staff in the Region 5 office in Chicago, Illinois. The Administrator participated in a roundtable with career regional leadership followed by an address to all staff at the office. He answered questions from employees and shook hands with those in attendance. EPA’s Region 5 office works to provide clean air, land and water for the residents of Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Minnesota.


Later that day, Administrator Zeldin visited Komatsu’s South Harbor factory, a former Superfund site, where some of the world’s largest and most efficient mining equipment and heavy machinery is now being built. Following the tour, Administrator Zeldin held a media availability where questions centered around President Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill and the many benefits it would deliver for the American people.

On Friday, June 27, 2025, Administrator Zeldin was back in Washington D.C. to deliver remarks at the annual Road to Majority Conference hosted by Faith and Freedom Coalition.
