WHAT THEY ARE SAYING: Leaders Thank EPA for E15 Year-Round Ahead of the Summer Driving Season
WASHINGTON – Yesterday, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin announced that the agency issued an emergency fuel waiver allowing the sale of E15 gasoline nationwide throughout the summer season. This action will grant relief to American consumers filling up their tank across the country by ensuring adequate amounts of fuel are provided to increase additional options of purchasing fuel. Administrator Zeldin’s announcement aligns with President Trump’s Executive Order Declaring a National Energy Emergency, which directed EPA to consider issuing emergency waivers to allow for year-round E15 sales.
Here’s what people are saying:
Governor Jim Pillen (R-NE): “The benefit of a nationwide market is massive for Nebraska ethanol – and every family in our country filling up their tank. This emergency waiver is a big boost for Nebraska’s producers and will allow consumers to benefit and save from the E15 advantage thanks to lower costs at the pump. The Trump Administration continues to go to bat for America’s farmers – and this is yet another example of a strong partnership that’s earning results for agriculture.”
Governor Kim Reynolds (R-IA): “Thank you President Trump and EPA Administrator Zeldin for approving the nationwide sale of E15 this summer and for granting the Midwest states’ request to put E15 and E10 on equal footing, ensuring adequate gas supply across the country. We are grateful for your unwavering commitment to making America energy dominant!”
Governor Larry Rhoden (R-SD): “Affordable fuel takes an all-of-the-above approach. The Trump Administration and EPA Administrator Zeldin have made E15 available for nationwide sales in advance of the summer driving months. This is great news for farms – and for all South Dakotans!”
Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD): “Today’s decision by the Trump administration to permit the nationwide, year-round sale of E15 fuel is a positive step for South Dakota farmers and consumers. EPA’s critical action in response to my letter earlier this month will help enhance America’s energy security and reduce fuel costs.”
Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND): “Thank you President Trump, Secretary Rollins, and Administrator Zeldin for their work to allow nationwide summer sales of E-15! This increases consumer choice at the pump and provides regulatory relief for fuel producers.”
Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA): “By making E15 available nationwide this summer, President Trump is prioritizing our farmers, producers, and all of rural America while driving down prices at the pump. I look forward to working alongside him to secure permanent, nationwide access to this cleaner, cheaper choice.”
Senator Deb Fischer (R-NE): “I’m pleased the EPA issued a summertime emergency fuel waiver for E15; however, we need a permanent, nationwide solution. Congress must pass my bill and unleash the power of year-round E15.”
Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA): “Thanks to President Trump and EPA Administrator Zeldin for keeping their promise to support ethanol E15 will be available nationwide this summertime. E15 provides a BIG domestic market for corn farmers and keeps fuel costs low. Another example of promises made promises kept from this administration.”
Senator Roger Marshall (R-KS): “Huge news. President Trump has kept another promise by making E15 available at gas stations all summer long. Last month, my Senate Republican colleagues and I met with Secretary Rollins and Administrator Zeldin to discuss this initiative, and it’s great to see it happen. This move puts us one step closer to providing unrestricted access to E15 for all Americans, all year long, to strengthen domestic agriculture markets, unleash America’s energy dominance, and lower prices at the pump.”
Senator Jerry Moran (R-KS): “GOOD NEWS: The Trump Administration has approved the year-round sale of E15, providing consumers with more options at the pump, new markets for Kansas farmers and bolstering American energy independence.”

Senator Mike Rounds (R-SD): “Year-round E15 sales will be a significant boost to our corn and ethanol industries in South Dakota and provide relief to our consumers at the gas pump nationwide this year.”
Representative Ron Estes (R-KS-04): “Today, the EPA announced a nationwide waiver for the sale of E15 gasoline ahead of the summer months. Allowing the sale of E15 year-round and nationwide is a win for Kansas ethanol producers and drivers across the country. This is a great step forward in restoring American energy dominance, and farmers in Kansas are ready to help provide relief for consumers at the pump.”
Representative Randy Feenstra (R-IA-04): “I thank President Trump and EPA Administrator Zeldin for approving E-15 sales in all fifty states this summer. Whether traveling for work or embarking on a family road trip, Americans will benefit from lower gas prices courtesy of Iowa’s farmers and ethanol producers.”
Representative Mike Flood (R-NE-01): “I applaud President Trump and EPA Administrator Zeldin for authorizing E15 across America for the summer driving season. E15 is clean, affordable, and American-made and we want everyone to have access to it."
Representative Ashley Hinson (R-IA-02): “The Trump Administration will allow the uninterrupted sale of E15 this summer! A huge thank you to President Trump for following through on his commitments to Iowa farmers & biofuels producers and allowing the sale of E-15 this summer nationwide.”
Representative Dusty Johnson (R-SD-AL): “I applaud EPA’s quick response to a letter I sent with my colleagues last week urging the sale of E15 through the summer. This decision supports our producers, gives consumers more options at the pump, and bolsters our energy security.”
Representative Tracey Mann (R-KS-01): “Nationwide E15 sales support Kansas farmers & lowers energy costs for American families. Thank you, Administrator Zeldin and President Trump for your commitment to an all of the above energy strategy that keeps America energy dominant.”
Representative Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-IA-01): “Proud to work with President Trump to deliver summer E15 for Iowa—lower costs, stronger biofuels, and a big win for American energy. Summer waivers are a start, and in Congress, I’ll keep fighting to make E15 available year-round.”
Representative Zach Nunn (R-IA-03): “Big win for Iowa! E15 will now be available nationwide this summer. I joined a bipartisan effort to request an emergency waiver to boost U.S. fuel supply, lower costs at the pump, and grow markets for Iowa's homegrown biofuels.”
Representative Adrian Smith (R-NE-03): “Drivers are looking for fuel price relief and higher ethanol blends are the commonsense solution. Ensuring the availability of this renewable, homegrown energy source empowers producers and retailers to meet demand during the summer travel months. I thank EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin and USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins for taking the necessary action to unleash domestic energy production. A permanent solution to provide long-term certainty is still needed, and I will continue to work toward enactment of my bill, the Nationwide Consumer and Fuel Retailer Choice Act, to eliminate unnecessary restrictions to E15.”
Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird: “Huge win for farmers and families across the nation! Now, every American can enjoy access to cleaner, cheaper E15 fuel all year-round. Thank you, President Trump, Administrator Zeldin, & Secretary Rollins for unleashing American energy greatness!”
Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship Secretary Mike Naig: “Today’s E15 announcement by the Trump Administration is a win for consumers across the U.S. and farmers here in Iowa. I want to thank President Trump, Administrator Zeldin and Secretary Rollins for making E15 available to drivers during the busy summer travel season. Iowa drivers saved $38.5 million in 2024 by choosing E15 over E10, and now drivers across the country can also take advantage of similar cost-savings at the pump. This decision is a big step toward making our country more energy dominant, independent, and secure.”
American Coalition for Ethanol CEO Brian Jennings: “We welcome the Trump administration’s decision to issue an emergency waiver for E15 this summer. Once again, this action will help alleviate fuel costs for drivers while reducing tailpipe emissions at a time when both economic and environmental concerns remain top of mind.”
American Farm Bureau Federation President Zippy Duvall: “Farm Bureau appreciates EPA’s decision to keep ethanol blended gasoline available nationwide through the summer season. People who choose E15 fuel experience an average cost savings of 10-30 cents per gallon, which is much-needed relief for families suffering with high prices. Biofuels are an important tool in achieving the nation’s energy independence, while lowering costs for drivers and maintaining important markets for America’s farmers. AFBF has long advocated for year-round E15 sales, and we thank the president and EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin for listening. We now encourage Congress to pass legislation to offer drivers lower cost options by making year-round E15 sales permanent.”
Growth Energy CEO Emily Skor: “We’re grateful to President Trump and EPA Administrator Zeldin for moving quickly to lift a needless barrier standing between the American people and lower-cost E15. EPA’s decision is a step toward greater American energy dominance. This will put more American fuel in the marketplace, allow Americans to spend less of their hard-earned money at the pump this summer, give fuel retailers the clarity and certainty they need and protect a critical market for American farmers.”
Iowa Farm Bureau Federation President Brent Johnson: “Iowa Farm Bureau members applaud President Trump and EPA Administrator Zeldin for today’s action providing for year-round nationwide access to E15 fuel. Iowa leads the nation in biofuels production, and this action will provide consumers with access to a lower-cost fuel option at the gas pump, and the resulting demand for homegrown fuels will support Iowa’s farm families and rural communities.”
Iowa Renewable Fuels Association Executive Director Monte Shaw: “IRFA thanks the Trump Administration for allowing states across the country the opportunity to sell E15 this summer. While Iowa consumers and retailers already have E15 certainty, we still want consumers all across the nation to have the ability to save 15 to 20 cents per gallon at the pump. And during a time of tight fuel supplies, it would be ridiculous to tell retailers to bag their E15 pumps. Today is good news for Iowa farmers as well when you consider that 96.5 percent of ethanol produced at Iowa plants is utilized outside of the state.”
Minnesota Bio-Fuels Association Executive Director Brian Werner: “The Minnesota Bio-Fuels Association thanks the EPA for its decision to allow the nationwide sale of E15 this summer. Consumers across the country will now be able to access the same savings at the pump available to Minnesota drivers, who have already saved $3.25 million with E15 in 2025.”
Minnesota Corn Growers Association President Jim Kanten: “The Minnesota Corn Growers Association (MCGA) thanks President Trump and EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin for issuing the waiver, which will provide families with relief at the pump, bolster U.S. energy independence, and support rural economies. E15 is available at more than 510 Minnesota fuel stations, and it typically sells at a discount of 15 cents to 25 cents compared to regular E10 gasoline. This action will ensure drivers nationwide have continued access to the reduced prices, increased consumer choice, and decreased tailpipe emissions offered by E15.”
Nebraska Farm Bureau President Mark McHargue: “We are pleased EPA Administrator Zeldin has again made the decision to grant a waiver for the sale of E15 nationwide this summer.”
POET Biofuels: “Thank you President Trump for bringing access to affordable, American-made fuel. Now let’s support American farmers and find a legislative solution for permanent access to year-round E15!”
Renewable Fuels Association President and CEO Geoff Cooper: “On his first day in office, President Trump declared a national energy emergency and identified year-round E15 as a solution for extending fuel supplies and reducing pump prices. With geopolitical conflict roiling energy markets worldwide, we applaud President Trump and Administrator Zeldin for acting quickly to combat potential fuel shortages and help keep a lid on gas prices this summer. Allowing uninterrupted sales of E15 will help boost gasoline supplies, bolster the farm economy, and protect air quality.”
