Public Meeting Scheduled on Upcoming Maintenance at Silver Lake

BOSTON, MASS. (June 27, 2025) – U.S. Environmental Protection Agency invites the public to attend a meeting on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, on Silver Lake. GE will provide a presentation on upcoming maintenance of the cap that covers the bottom of Silver Lake and then take questions with members of EPA's GE-Housatonic River Superfund Site team.

Under the 2000 Consent Decree, GE was required to remove contaminated bank soils, remove and replace sediments near an outfall from the GE plant, cap the entire 26-acre lake bottom and perform periodic reviews of the cap's effectiveness and integrity.
