Public Notice: Arkansas City Dump Superfund Site, Arkansas City, Cowley County, Kansas
Summary
Seventh Five-Year Review Started
The Kansas Department of Health and Environmental (KDHE) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 7 have started the Seventh Five-Year Review for the Arkansas City Dump Superfund site. Five-Year Reviews are required by the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA), commonly known as Superfund, when hazardous substances remain on-site above levels that permit unrestricted use and unlimited exposure.
The Arkansas City Dump Superfund Site Seventh Five-Year Review will be led by KDHE. Five-Year Reviews provide an opportunity to evaluate the site remedy to determine whether it remains protective of human health and the environment. This Five-Year Review Report should be completed by June 2027.
Site project information and previous Five-Year Reviews are available to the public at web repositories. To view cleanup documents, please visit EPA’s Site Profile page at (see Site Documents & Data).
