Primary Annual Fine Particulate Matter Designations – State Initial Designations and EPA’s Intended Approach for Finalizing Designations

EPA is responding to initial designations for the 2024 annual primary fine particulate matter National Ambient Air Quality Standard (2024 annual PM2.5 NAAQS). EPA’s letters to states and territories initiate a 30-day period for these states and territories to provide additional information, if desired, to inform EPA’s final designations. EPA has also opened a 30-day public comment period for interested parties to provide input on these designations.
