Title IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1972
In accordance with Executive Order 14224 (in English), which designates English as the official language of the United States, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is reviewing and updating, as necessary, its language access policies and procedures. Pursuant to a permanent injunction issued by the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana on August 22, 2024, EPA will not impose or enforce any disparate impact or cumulative impact analysis requirements under Title VI against any entity in the State of Louisiana. Title IX provides:
No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.
