FY2022-FY2023 Pollution Prevention Grant Selection Summaries

During fiscal years 2022-2023, EPA selected grantees for 39 Pollution Prevention (P2) grants funded under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law totaling nearly $12 million. Additionally, EPA selected grantees for 32 P2 grants funded under the recurring P2 grants program totaling over $9 million.

Both grant opportunities will support P2 activities across all environmental media – air, water, and land. Prospective grant recipients represent state agencies, federally recognized tribes, and colleges and universities that are instrumentalities of a state.

The grant selection summaries include the grant recipient's name, the federal grant amount, and a brief description of what each grant will address. Grants reflect a two-year funding period with work anticipated to begin in October 2022, or soon thereafter, and to complete in October 2024.

EPA allows grantees one additional year to follow up with the businesses they assisted to determine which P2 recommendations were adopted and implemented, and to report that information to EPA. Selected grantees will focus on at least one of the P2 Program’s National Emphasis Areas: Food and Beverage Manufacturing and Processing; Chemical Manufacturing, Processing and Fabrication; Auto Manufacturing and Maintenance; Aerospace Product and Parts Manufacturing and Maintenance; Metal Manufacturing and Fabrication; or Supporting Pollution Prevention in Indian Country and for Alaska Native Villages.
