Public Notice: Proposed settlement with Simplot Western Stockmen’s for Clean Water Act violations in Idaho
Summary
The EPA is providing notice of a proposed administrative penalty settlement with Simplot Western Stockmen’s for violations of the Clean Water Act at its facility located in Caldwell, Idaho.
The EPA alleges that the respondent failed to comply with the EPA’s 2021 Multi-Sector General Permit (MSGP) for Stormwater Discharges Associated with Industrial Activity at its Simplot Western Stockmen’s feed mill facility. The permit covers discharges of pollutants into the lower Boise River.
Alleged violations were failure to submit quarterly visual assessments upon request, failure to properly maintain records, failure to submit timely discharge monitoring reports, and failure to maintain a stormwater pollution prevention plan according to permit requirements.
