Improving Water Quality in the Tijuana River Valley - Project #2

This factsheet provides an overview of Project #2 under evaluation for its ability to reduce environmental and human health impacts from transboundary flows in the Tijuana River Valley.

This project includes improvements and expansion of the Tijuana River conveyance system in Mexico and diverts river water to a newly constructed primary wastewater treatment plant in the U.S.

The feasibility analysis technical memorandum for Project #2 outlines an estimate of capital costs; an estimate of design, project, and construction management costs; an estimate of operation and maintenance (O&M) costs; a rough project implementation schedule; a summary of regulatory, engineering, and potential implementation issues; and a preliminary summary of impacts. This evaluation supported the development of the alternatives for the Alternatives Analysis.
