EPA Accepting Public Comments on All Candidates Under Consideration for Membership on the TSCA SACC

On August 17, 2020, EPA extended the nomination period for candidates to serve on the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) Science Advisory Committee on Chemicals (SACC). The Agency is now accepting public comments for all candidates.

Biographies for all candidates are available via www.regulations.gov. Public comments – which must be submitted on or before October 30, 2020 – will be used to assist the agency in selecting multiple members of the SACC over the next year.

EPA anticipates appointing approximately 15 members to the SACC by March 2021. Please note that current members of the SACC are eligible for reappointment during this period. Therefore, the approximately 15 members appointments completed by March 2021 may include a mix of newly appointed and reappointed members.

Public comments must be submitted through the Federal eRulemaking Portal. When providing comments, do not submit electronically (through email or the Federal eRulemaking Portal) any information you consider to be Confidential Business Information (CBI) or other information whose disclosure is restricted by statute. For additional information, please see the Federal Register notice or contact Todd Peterson, Ph.D., Designated Federal Officer, Office of Program Support, Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention, Environmental Protection Agency: peterson.todd@epa.gov).

The SACC is a federal advisory committee, established in December 2016, to provide independent advice and recommendations to the EPA Administrator on the scientific basis for risk assessments, methodologies, and approaches relating to implementation of TSCA.
