Section 508 Requirements for Grantees

The information below is specifically for current, future EPA grant recipients (grantees), or cooperative agreement recipients.

As of March 2023, grant or cooperative agreement recipients do not have to adhere to Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act standards. However, recipients must comply with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. Please review paragraph 31 of the EPA General Terms and Conditions for specific language. The EPA Grants Office has resources for applicants and recipients as well as policy resources.

The Section 508 Program encourages recipients to make all documentation deliverables digitally accessible when possible. GSA's Section508.gov site has excellent resources on how to make documents, spreadsheets and presentations digitally accessible.
