Emergency Administrative Order: Arizona Village Public Water System
Emergency Administrative Order in the matter of Fort Mojave Tribal Utilities Authority Arizona Village Public Water System PWS ID #090400300. Docket No. PWS-AO-2026-010.
Background
On November 13, 2025, EPA issued an emergency administrative order to Fort Mojave Tribal Utilities Authority (FMTUA) due to elevated manganese detected in the Arizona Village public water system that exceeded EPA’s 2004 health advisory level for acute exposure to manganese. The emergency order requires FMTUA to issue public notice, provide an alternative water supply, submit a compliance plan to permanently address the manganese contamination, and conduct monthly manganese sampling of the distribution system.
Since learning of the elevated manganese result, FMTUA opened its emergency interconnection with the City of Needles in order to supply customers with potable water and temporarily ceased usage of the Quinetha Well, which is the source of the manganese. FMTUA also began distributing alternative water and setting up free water filling stations throughout the system.
