Combined Heat and Power (CHP) Partnership

  • What is CHP?

CHP is an energy efficient technology that generates electricity and captures the heat that would otherwise be wasted to provide useful thermal energy.

    Learn the basics.

  • The CHP Energy and Emissions Savings Calculator Has Been Updated

The CHP Energy and Emissions Savings Calculator is a Microsoft Excel-based tool that calculates and compares the estimated fuel consumption and air pollutant emissions (CO2e, SO2 and NOX) of a CHP system and comparable separate heat and power system (e.g., grid power and a boiler system).

  • Could CHP be Right for Your Facility?

View a list of questions to assess if your facility is a good candidate for CHP

Through the CHP Partnership, EPA works with a network of CHP stakeholders to promote CHP’s role in providing affordable, reliable, and low emission energy.
