The Safe Drinking Water Act requires that EPA monitor for no more than 30 unregulated contaminants every five years.

Laboratories seeking approval must register to participate in the laboratory approval process.

April 12, 2017
EPA will host a public meeting and webinar to provide stakeholders with a comprehensive overview of the UCMR 4 program.

April 19, 2017
Laboratories must complete and submit the necessary laboratory approval application materials.

Important Dates

October 31, 2017
Large ground water systems that wish to monitor from representative entry points must submit either an existing ground water representative monitoring plan (GWRMP), approved in a prior UCMR cycle, or propose a new GWRMP.

December 31, 2017
Large systems must update contact, zip codes, sampling locations, and inventory information. Small systems must provide sampling locations. Any subsequent changes must be submitted within 30 days of the change occurring.
