RCRAInfo Search User Guide
The Resource Conservation and Recovery Act Information (RCRAInfo) system is used by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to track entities regulated under RCRA Subtitle C (hazardous waste handlers). RCRAInfo contains data on handler identification, permit and closure status, regulatory compliance, and cleanup activities.
This page provides a brief user guide to the RCRAInfo Search. Users can search regulated facilities using multiple criteria and customize search output using the options described below.
Facility Identification Search
Begin by selecting Facility Name or Handler ID from the Facility Identification dropdown.
Facility Name
Enter a complete or partial facility name. Use:
- Beginning With to match names starting with the entered value
- Exact Match to retrieve only identical matches
- Containing when entering partial names to improve initial results
Handler ID
Enter a complete or partial Handler ID. Use the same Beginning With, Exact Match, or Containing options to control the scope of results.
Geography Search
You may further narrow results using one or more geographic criteria:
- ZIP Code (one or more digits)
- Street Address (partial or complete)
- City (state required)
- County (state required)
- State (select from dropdown)
Note: Because Envirofacts contains a large number of facilities, starting with a small geographic area is strongly recommended.
NAICS Code Search
Enter a partial or complete North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code. No additional search criteria are required when using NAICS.
| Number of Digits | Example | Granularity |
|---|---|---|
| Two | 31xxxx | Manufacturing |
| Three | 311xxx | Food Manufacturing |
| Four | 3115xx | Dairy Products |
| Five | 31151x | Dairy Products (Not Frozen) |
| Six | 311511 | Fluid Milk Manufacturing |
Use 4–6 digits for Exact Match. Use up to 6 digits for Beginning With or Containing.
