Can a partnership application also apply for mentorship funds?
No; the mentorship opportunity is only available for individual, first-time applicants who are conducting work for their own organization’s benefit under the guidance of a mentor, whereas the partnership application inherently involves two or more organizations participating actively in the grant and benefitting from the accomplished work. So, you would apply either for an EN partner application or as an individual with mentorship, but not both. We often see applicants who are ineligible for the mentorship option, as they are not a first-time EN applicant or maybe they are not able to identify a mentor that meets the ‘Individual Capacity Building with Mentorship’ project opportunity requirements, elect to work with a partner instead. As outlined in the funding thresholds, one of the benefits to applying for a partnership application, as opposed to the ‘Individual Capacity Building with Mentorship’ opportunity is the ability to tap into that higher funding threshold of $600,000, as opposed to the smaller threshold of $415,000, of which only $15,000 can be passed on to that mentoring organization. However, it can also be beneficial for applicants to partner with a more experienced organization, as they can unofficially provide mentorship throughout the completion of the grant activities.
