If we apply this year and are denied, can we apply again for the same project next year with an improved application?
Yes – as long as the application meets one or more of the funding opportunities and meets our threshold criteria. If you do apply this year and are not successful, you have the option of requesting a debriefing of your unsuccessful application (which must be within 15 days of being notified that your application was not successful); that can be a really great way to get some feedback to determine where your project application could have been stronger. Please also note that applicants are able to have up to 4 EN assistance agreements open at the same time (as of December 31st of the prior year), and still apply for the current grant cycle, as long as there is no duplication of effort with the projects. So, in this scenario, even if you are successful this year, you can also apply for an award in the subsequent year and have multiple projects open simultaneously, assuming there is no express duplication.
