CHICAGO (April 29, 2025) – On Tuesday, May 6, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will hold two open house sessions to discuss the updated remedy for groundwater cleanup at the Reilly Tar Superfund site in West Indianapolis. EPA representatives will provide information and answer questions in an informal setting. The same information will be presented at both sessions.

When:
Tuesday, May 6, from 2 – 4 p.m. and 5 – 7 p.m. EDT

Where:
Mary Rigg Neighborhood Center – Room 234
1920 West Morris St.
Indianapolis, Indiana

EPA is in the process of finalizing the updated remedial design to clean up the remaining groundwater contamination across the site. This summer, crews will begin drilling more than 70 air sparging wells that use a cleanup technique to inject air into groundwater to break down contaminants. The wells are expected to begin operations next spring.

More information is available at the Reilly Tar & Chemical Corp. Superfund website.
