The Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation Act (WIIN Act) Grant Programs

February 13, 2023 - EPA announces the $2 billion in Bipartisan Infrastructure Law grant funding for participating states and territories to address emerging contaminants in drinking water, such as PFAS. Click here for News Release.

The Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation Act (WIIN Act) addresses, supports, and improves America's drinking water infrastructure. Included in the WIIN Act are three drinking water grants that promote public health and protection of the environment.​

Small, Underserved, Disadvantaged Communities Grant

This grant program provides assistance to underserved communities that have no household drinking water or wastewater services or are served by a public water system that violates or exceeds any Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) Maximum Contaminant Level, treatment technique, or action level.

Funding will be awarded on a non‐competitive basis to states, territories, and Tribes.

Voluntary School and Child Care Lead Testing and Reduction Grant 

This grant program awards funding to local education agencies for voluntary testing and reduction of lead in drinking water at schools and child care facilities.

Funding will be awarded on a non‐competitive basis to states, territories, and Tribes.

Reducing Lead in Drinking Water Grant

This grant program is designed to facilitate reducing lead in drinking water in disadvantaged communities through infrastructure and/or treatment improvements or facility remediation in schools and child care facilities. The goal of these projects is to address conditions that contribute to increased concentrations of lead in drinking water.  

Funding will be awarded on a competitive basis for all applicants other than Tribes.

America’s Water Infrastructure Act (AWIA) 2018 Grants

Drinking Water System Infrastructure Resilience and Sustainability Program

This grant program is designed to assist public water systems serving underserved, small, and disadvantaged communities, in increasing their resiliency to natural hazards.

Funding will be awarded on a competitive basis for all applicants.
