UIC National Training Initiative

The national Underground Injection Control (UIC) program is developing a series of online interactive technical training modules designed to ensure efficient transfer of knowledge on various aspects of the UIC program. The modules will help improve effectiveness and provide consistent and transparent program implementation across federal, state, and tribal UIC programs.

The modules are intended for UIC permit writers, program managers, and inspectors from federal, state, territory, and tribal UIC programs. The modules cover, UIC basics; permitting; inspection and enforcement; construction and operation; and several technical “special” topic areas. Some UIC modules may be used to satisfy supplemental training requirements for National UIC Inspector Training certification.

FedTalent platform

The FedTalent platform is a talent management system that integrates learning management and performance management. Federal EPA UIC personnel can access FedTalent from One-EPA Workplace using your LAN username and password. State and tribal UIC personal can access the UIC training. However, FedTalent accounts are required. The following section provides specific instructions for establishing a FedTalent account and finding the UIC Training Modules Dashboard.

FedTalent accounts for non-federal state, tribe, and territory UIC staff

Non EPA UIC personnel need to access FedTalent  and request an account. From the FedTalent login page use the create new account textbox shown in the screenshot below to get started.

Please identify Mary Puckett Hastings (202) 564-1525 as your EPA point of contact. A series of emails from FedTalent will keep you informed on the request approval process. You must respond to the first FedTalent email received to confirm your email account.

From the FedTalent home page scroll down to find the UIC dashboard. Use the Underground Injection Control link to access the UIC training modules.  The dashboard lists the UIC titles scheduled for development. Completed modules have "live" links. Use a "live" link to begin a training session. Each module begins with navigation instructions and information on quizzes or knowledge check questions that may be included.
