DaimlerChrysler Corporation - Toledo Supplier Park - Permitting Information

1. Facility Information

DaimlerChrysler Corporation - Toledo Supplier Park

2. Location

4000 Stickney Avenue, Toledo, Ohio

3. Distance from US/Canada Border

25 miles

4. Facility Type and Size

Automobile assembly plant with an annual production capacity of 200,064 vehicles.

5. Sources of Emissions

Primary emissions result from the application of color and protective coatings to the vehicle, and the miscellaneous combustion of natural gas for process and comfort heating.

6. Type of Fuel

Natural gas will fuel all combustion processes with #2 fuel oil as stand by for the main boilers.

7. Type and Quantity of Emissions

This project, if approved, will result in permit allowable emissions for the new sources as defined in the following table. Because this project also includes the shutdown of existing sources, net reductions in criteria pollutants are expected. Decreases in emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOC) and nitrogen oxides (NOx) that offset and exceed the amount of the new source emissions, are required as part of this permit. The proposed allowable criteria pollutant air emission rates for the new sources and the net increase or decrease associated with this project are as follows:

Pollutant Permit Allowable
(Tons/Year)
Shutdown Decreases
(Tons/Year)
Project Net Increases (Decreases)
(Tons/Year)
VOC 676.35 743.99 (67.64)
NOx 64.48 70.93 (6.45)
Particulate 69.53 * *
PM10 51.28 * *
CO 61.26 * *
SO2 27.22 * *

* Additional reductions occurred for these pollutants but were not calculated because offsets are not required for these pollutants.

8. Emission Control Technology

Individual emissions units are restricted by a combination of BACT and LAER limitations including: production restrictions, coating organic compound content limitations, thermal oxidation, particulate filtration and proper work practices.

9. Date Permit Application Received

March 16, 2004

10. Stack Height and Diameter

Multiple stacks and fugitive emissions sources prevent an accurate representation of this function. The tallest stack is 51.48 m.
