The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the New Mexico Environment Department will hold a meeting to provide an update on the status of activities at the Carlisle Village Cleaners Superfund Site.

EPA and NMED will also conduct community interviews between January 14-17. The interviews will be used to develop a Community Involvement Plan, which is a site-specific strategy to enable meaningful community involvement throughout the Superfund cleanup process.

The Site was officially listed on the National Priorities List on July 3, 2025, and is located where two former dry-cleaning businesses - Carlisle Village Cleaners and L&M Laundry and Cleaners - operated, collectively from 1953 to 2017. Improper storage or disposal practices from either of the dry cleaners may have caused tetrachloroethylene (PCE) and trichloroethylene (TCE) to be released into the environment.
