Public Notice: Hunt's Disposal Landfill Five-Year Review
Summary
EPA is conducting a five-year review of the Hunt’s Disposal Landfill site. The Superfund law requires regular checkups of sites that have been cleaned up – with waste managed on-site – to make sure the cleanup continues to protect people and the environment.
In 1990, EPA selected a cleanup of contaminated soil and groundwater at the former landfill consisted of fencing and installing a multi-layered cap. A slurry wall was constructed to be used as an underground protective barrier. EPA also installed a groundwater pump-and-treat system and monitoring wells, an active landfill gas management system, and implemented institutional controls to restrict use of the land.
