TMDL Foundations Training

The objective of the Total Maximum Daily Load Foundations training course is to introduce basic TMDL concepts and enable participants to understand the process for developing TMDLs.

Live Virtual TMDL Foundations Trainings

TMDL Foundations is a highly structured training course that takes the learner through the process of developing a simple TMDL. The learner will gain an understanding of the steps in the TMDL development process and an appreciation for how the various components of the analysis come together.

TMDL Foundations is an introductory course designed for state, territorial or Tribal personnel with entry-level experience in surface water quality assessment, impaired waters listing or TMDLs. Staff at any experience level in programs related to surface water quality standards, point source permitting or nonpoint source management may also benefit from the course.

Each live virtual offering of TMDL Foundations includes half-day sessions held two times per week over four consecutive weeks. These virtual trainings are offered one to two times per year.
