Summary

The EPA is conducting a Five-Year Review (FYR) of the Petrochem Recycling Corp./Ekotek Superfund Site (the Site) located in Salt Lake City, Utah. The purpose of the Five-Year Review is to make sure that the selected cleanup actions effectively protect human health and the environment. This will be the third Five-Year Review for the Site, and it will be completed by September 2026. Utah Department of Environmental Quality Division of Environmental Response and Remediation (UDEQ-DERR) is conducting the Five-Year Review in cooperation with the EPA.

EPA invites community participation in the Five-Year Review process. EPA staff members are available to answer any questions about the Site or the Five-Year Review process. Community members who have questions about the Site or the Five-Year Review process, or who would like to participate in a community interview are asked to contact Kaleb VanArsdale or Benjamin Rule, see contact information in the How to Comment Box.
