Youth sports coaches and athletic administrators are in a unique position to help ensure the health and safety of young athletes. EPA has created a presentation and companion checklist to help coaches and athletic administrators better understand the environmental health risks associated with youth sports and the steps they can follow to protect young athletes.

Where They Play: Creating Healthy Environments for Youth Athletes and the Healthy Environments Coach’s Checklist cover:

  • Indoor air quality
  • Outdoor air quality, including smog and vehicle idling
  • Secondhand smoke
  • Cleaning chemicals
  • Pesticides

The materials outline the ways that environmental contaminants might affect youth athletes and offer simple and practical actions coaches can take to protect children, both indoors and out.
