Electromagnetic Properties of Matter
Any geophysical method that relies on electromagnetic (EM) energy and EM wave propagation is measuring or responding to the EM properties of matter.
The EM properties of matter include:
- Electrical conductivity (σ), or its inverse, electrical resistivity (ρ)
- Relative Magnetic permeability (μ)
- Relative dielectric permittivity (ε) – also called dielectric constant
