Minimum required language:

In accordance with FAR Part 23.1:

Meet statutory purchasing program requirements:

  • BioPreferred® – Federal Purchasing (FP)

To the maximum extent practicable, products and services provided through the contract shall be certified to the following applicable single-attribute standard/ecolabel.

  • Single-Attribute (covering Commercial Compostability only)
    • BPI Commercial Compostability Certification Scheme

Minimum required language:

In accordance with FAR Part 23.1:

Meet statutory purchasing program requirements:

  • Comprehensive Procurement Guidelines (CPG)

To the maximum extent practicable, products and services provided through the contract shall be certified to any of the following applicable multi-attribute standards/ecolabels.

  • Ecologo/UL 175 Standard for Sustainability for Sanitary Paper Products
  • Green Seal® 1 Standard for Sanitary Paper Products

Minimum required language:

In accordance with FAR Part 23.1:

Meet statutory purchasing program requirements:

  • BioPreferred® – Federal Purchasing (FP)

To the maximum extent practicable, products and services provided through the contract shall be certified to any of the following applicable multi-attribute standards/ecolabels.

  • Ecologo/UL 2759 Standard for Hard Surface Cleaners
  • Ecologo/UL 2795 Standard for Sustainability for Carpet and Upholstery Care Products
  • Green Seal® 37 Standard for Cleaning Products for Industrial and Institutional Use
  • Safer Choice

Optional model language:

Purchasers may use the following language to encourage suppliers to provide products that restrict or eliminate Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS).

Compliant with FAR Part 23.1:  

Meet statutory purchasing program requirements:

  • BioPreferred® – Federal Purchasing (FP)

To avoid the procurement of products containing Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS), to the maximum extent practicable, products and services provided through the contract shall be certified to the following applicable standard/ecolabel.

  • Green Seal® 37 Standard for Cleaning Products for Industrial and Institutional Use
  • Safer Choice

Floor Care

Minimum required language:

In accordance with FAR Part 23.1:  

Meet statutory purchasing program requirements:  

  • BioPreferred® – Federal Purchasing (FP) 

To the maximum extent practicable, floor care products and services provided through the contract shall be certified to any of the following applicable multi-attribute standards/ecolabels:

  • Ecologo/UL 2777 Standard for Sustainability for Hard Floor Care Products 

  • Green Sea® 40 Standard for Floor-Care Products for Industrial and Institutional Use 

  • Safer Choice

Optional model language:

Purchasers may use the following language to encourage suppliers to provide products that restrict or eliminate Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS).

Trash Bags

Minimum required language:

In accordance with FAR Part 23.1:

When BioPreferred® – Federal Purchasing (FP) and CPG are both required, the agency shall purchase the item that meets the CPG requirements (per FAR 23.405 Procedures (c) and Farm Security and Rural Investment Act, Section 9002 (b))
