Greening EPA

Scope 1 and 2 Greenhouse Gas Emissions Results

In FY 2017, EPA reduced its Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 50.8 percent compared to FY 2008.

EPA’s Scope 1 and 2 GHG Emissions Reductions

EPA has reduced Scope 1 and 2 emissions primarily by improving the energy efficiency of its facilities and continuing to purchase and generate renewable energy. EPA has also reduced total fleet fuel consumption and increased its percentage of alternative fuel use compared to petroleum.

For more information about Scope 1 and 2 GHG reduction efforts, see EPA’s Strategic Sustainability Performance Plan.
