Primary Copper Smelting: New Source Performance Standards

These standards, which were promulgated on January 15, 1976, require new and modified Primary Copper Smelters to limit particulate matter emissions to 50 milligrams per dry standard cubic meter (mg/dscm), maintain opacity at or below 20%, and limit sulfur dioxide emissions in the gases released from the stacks (from roasters, smelting furnaces and copper converters) to 650 parts per million (or less) averaged over a 6 hour period.
