Honors Clerkship Program with EPA’s Environmental Appeals Board
The Environmental Appeals Board (EAB) is an appellate tribunal established by regulation to hear administrative appeals under all major environmental statutes that EPA administers. Located in Washington, DC, the EAB’s caseload consists primarily of appeals from permit decisions and administrative civil penalty decisions, as well as petitions for reimbursement of costs incurred in complying with cleanup orders issued under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act of 1980 (CERCLA). The EAB Honors Clerkship Program is highly competitive. The key objectives are to provide recent law school graduates with the opportunity to practice public sector environmental law and to provide the EAB with highly motivated and talented entry-level lawyers who are interested in a variety of legal work on cutting-edge administrative and environmental law issues.
Who Should Apply?
The EAB Honors Clerkship Program is open to highly qualified recent law school graduates with a superior record of achievement. The EAB seeks applicants with excellent analytical, research and writing abilities, a strong commitment to public service, and a demonstrated ability to take on significant responsibility.

Candidates who have completed law school, obtained a J.D. and are pending admission to a state bar should apply through the Law Clerk Announcement.
