NPDES Permit for Wrangell Wastewater Treatment Plant in Alaska

EPA renews wastewater permits for Haines, Sitka, Skagway, and Wrangell

On December 5, 2024, EPA reissued wastewater discharge permits to Haines, Sitka, Skagway, and Wrangell, requiring the facilities to significantly reduce the levels of bacteria they discharge into local marine waters. The renewed permits will become effective November 1, 2025. Read EPA's press release.

Below is EPA's National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit for the city of Wrangell Wastewater Treatment Plant in Alaska. The facility discharges primary treated effluent to Zimovia Strait under a Clean Water Act section 301(h)-modified permit.
