Public Notice: EPA to Review Cleanup at Moses Lake Wellfield Contamination Superfund Site in Washington

Summary

EPA has started its third "Five-Year Review" of the environmental cleanup at the Moses Lake Wellfield Contamination Superfund site in Moses Lake, Washington.

EPA is required to review Superfund cleanups at least every five years at sites where contaminants remain in place. These reviews help us make sure that cleanup actions continue to protect human health and the environment.

Past operations at the former Larson Air Force Base and industrial activities associated with the aircraft industry contaminated soil and groundwater with trichloroethene (TCE) and other hazardous substances. EPA added the site to the Superfund list in 1992 and has been concurrently implementing cleanup actions while continuing investigations across the site.
