NPDES Permit for Wrangell Wastewater Treatment Plant in Alaska

EPA is proposing to modify this permit based on a change in outfall location since the permit was renewed in 2024. We are accepting public comments on the proposed modification from May 29 through June 27, 2025.

Below is EPA's National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit for the City and Borough of Wrangell Wastewater Treatment Plant in Alaska. The facility discharges primary treated effluent to Zimovia Strait under a Clean Water Act section 301(h)-modified permit.

On December 5, 2024, EPA renewed its wastewater permits for publicly owned treatment works in Haines, Sitka, Skagway, and Wrangell. The renewed permits become effective November 1, 2025. Read EPA's press release.
