Optical Gas Imaging Stakeholder Workshop

On November 9 and 10, 2020, Easter Research Group, on behalf of EPA, hosted a virtual Optical Gas Imaging Stakeholder Workshop to gather information from stakeholders prior to promulgating procedures for the use of optical gas imaging (OGI) for leak detection with a focus on leak detection in the refinery sector. EPA will consider input collected from this workshop as we develop the OGI procedures. The workshop was open to the public, and there was no cost to attend.

Agenda and Presentations

Each day of the workshop was divided into a morning and afternoon session. The morning session consisted of presentations from different stakeholder perspectives, including those of technology vendors, industry, and researchers. During the afternoon sessions, participants provided their individual input on a set list of topics.

All information gathered during the workshop will be docketed and considered by EPA as part of a future rulemaking on the developed procedures.

The workshop agenda and slides associated with the presentations given during the workshop are available here.

Additional Resources

The draft technical support document for the procedures for using OGI in leak detection was included in the docket during the proposal of the Standards of Performance for Crude Oil and Natural Gas Facilities for which Construction, Modification, or Reconstruction Commenced after September 18, 2015.
