Summary

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is proposing to issue an Underground Injection Control (UIC) permit related action, under the authority of the Safe Drinking Water Act and UIC Program regulations, that would authorize Nelson’s Autobody to operate an injection well. Nelson’s Autobody is renewing an existing Class V permit for operating a carwash. The septic system and dry well associated with the carwash are operational and all required sampling data has been submitted. The permit authorizes disposal of wastewater generated from car washing activities and sanitary waste from the septic system into the on-site drywell. The drywell discharges (injects) into the surficial aquifer at a depth of ten (10) feet. The proposed Class V well, known as Nelson’s Autobody Carwash, is located in Garfield County, Colorado. The well is six (6) feet in diameter and ten (10) feet in depth.
